The suggested guideline according to ECS district policy, is that the students do not go outside if the temperature is -20C or colder, or if the temperature and wind chill factor are -20C or colder. The temperature will be taken from Environment Canada’s 24-hour weather website.
Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather conditions. Your child will not have an enjoyable recess experience if they are not appropriately dressed.
Recess time is a vital time for students to exercise, eat a snack, be refreshed, and build socialization skills. Whenever recess is cancelled outdoors, an inside supervised recess break will occur.
We will watch for Air Quality Statements. Students will not go out if it is “7” or above.
In the morning during inclement weather (-20) the students are to go to their designated door. Doors will be open at 8:15 a.m.
